CUYS Wins 2023 Community Partnership Award from Chester Upland School District

Chester Upland Youth Soccer was honored to receive a 2023 Community Partnership Award from Chester Upland School District.

“Education is essential but healthy community partnerships are necessary to service the whole child. We are grateful for your investment in our students,” commented Ms. Nichola Thompson of Edgmont Scholars Academy, who nominated CUYS for the accolade.

CUYS has been a long-time partner of the district, providing after-school soccer, nutrition education, social-emotional learning opportunities and mentorship regularly to its students since 2012. The organization has also been contributor to bi-annual CUSD Family Summits and a recent career fair.

“CUYS’ contributions to our students’ development have been meaningful,” stated CUSD Superintendent Dr. Craig Parkinson in a recent letter submitted in support of CUYS. “Recently CUYS has expanded its offerings beyond soccer, providing its participating families with many opportunities to spend positive time together. Students and their families have enjoyed bowling, cycling, ice skating, and outings to college campuses, parks, museums and Union games through their involvement with Chester Upland Youth Soccer/Youth Development United. We appreciate the strengthening of family and community dynamics that occurs as a result of this programming.”

The award was presented Wednesday, June 7th at the Celebration of Excellence Ceremony at STEM High School.
